Surprising to many but its been 20 years since Italian fashion label Prada cast a black model in their ad campaigns! Something of a milestone! What took so long?! Let’s hope its not another 20 years before we see another black model. Prada definitely has a diversity issue, we need to see more women of colour!
Love the cover of ‘the sydney magazine’, so refreshing. Stunning models of colour >the faces of change!!
“Once the preserve of the pale and blonde, fashion houses and magazines now increasingly feature the enigmatic and the exotic……three multicultural Australian models strutting their stuff on the world stage.”
Amongst the beautiful three is Shanina Shaik, who is of Pakistani decent.
I instantly fell in love with this collection. For Alexander McQueen’s spring/summer 2013, Sarah Burton was inspired by bees, which was immediately evident in the honeycomb beekeeper hats and honeycomb prints, fabrics, and embellishments on nearly every look. Ornate details were bountiful in the dramatic honey-coloured collection which came complete with structured hook skirts, harnesses, tiered skirts, cage skirts, peplums, and tapestry fabrics. A triumph collection!!
Here’s the enchanting ‘A Royal Affair’ editorial that GQ Fashion Editor, Antara Motiwala styled for the Sept issue. Brazilian model/ actor Thyago Alves smoulders his way through the shoot looking like one dapper Maharaja. Loved the accents of Indian opulence mixed with Dolce & Gabbana,Gucci, Etro and Prada.
Hermes has unveiled four miniature Birkin bags crafted with diamonds and gold, priced at a jaw-dropping $1.9 million each. It has taken designer Pierre Hardy two years to create these eye-catching jewelry like pieces. What looks like impressions of leather on the body is actually rose gold and the top handle which can be adorned as a bracelet is all diamonds. Reportedly, this is currently “the most expensive handbags in the world”.
